Default GroupLoop

GroupLoop
http://www.grouploop.com

Keep your group in the loop with this application. GroupLoop provides a simple place for you to share and archive files, a central area for discussion, and a calendar to manage your meetings.

I have had a chance to test-drive the application ahead of time, and it looked very solid with fast loading pages and impressive interface. Flexibility and ease of use are the key ingredients of GroupLoop, looking to publicly launch the service sometime soon.

GroupLoop is a great substitute to email coordination, and I find it will do especially well among small to medium-sized teams. Since it's Web-based, you can access it from anywhere.

Default An attempt to copy CollectiveX.com

Well... innovation is what grouploop needs to learn... trying to copy CollectiveX.com is not going to get it. They even tried to copy our slogan... how sad is that?

Greetings Clarence,

Welcome to Web 2.0 Discussion community. I am somewhat surprised to see that much correlation between the two products - GroupLoop and CollectiveX - namely your own outlet. While I can see similarities on possibly layout and functions, there are also major differences. CollectiveX, the way I see it, is a player that has networking functionality as major part of application functionality and distribution (the way teams can promote and invite others to join their groups). In my perspective GroupLoop is a more "closed" teamwork environment, while CollectiveX offers more than just teamwork tools for groups. Finally, the pricing strategy is different. GroupLoop uses a standardized approach - bundled deals, while CollectiveX offers unique a la carte pricing - something to brag about! While such pricing approach gives you billing headache, it gives groups a very flexible setting.

The question comes to mind though - on the turf as competitive as Collaboration 2.0 - how protected can you really feel? Certainly I would not like someone coming around the corner and copying my application's look and feel when I've done all the work, but what is the real extent of potential teamwork functionalities that a developing company can go about when creating a web based collaborative software? The line of features are narrow - what can really protect you as a business owner from someone throwing another group-collaboration application on the market with similar features tomorrow?

Best,
