Elgg is a hybrid of weblogging, e-portfolios and social networking. It is hoped this combination of features will provide an engaging environment for learners to create their own learning space and then connect to others, forming online communities of learning.

Phase One: It is all about building up your own personal space, a personal record of all your work and experience, an aggregation of all content important to you - customised the way you want.

Phase two: (optional) use this to interact with others - search, find and/or create communities around similar interests.
