Hello everyone,
I am currently looking into creating a web2.0 application for a niche group of users which will combine the functionality of a networking platform, discussion forum (like this one) and a social bookmarking service. Rather then building the platform from scratch, I was thinking about either reusing some existing application (sort of a thing that you can do with http://scuttle.org/ for social bookmarking) or may be using a sort of a wiki application, which would offer its services online. With all the web 2.0 things happening out there, you would think that something like this would exist, right? Any ideas? Thanks |

Your best bet would be to see what competing resources for the niche you want to target is doing. If we look at each element: networking, forum, bookmarking - then yes, its been done hundreds of times. However, that doesn't mean that your competition has the same product as yours.
Best,
